Moonlight Madness at Old St Chad's church with Woody Bop Muddy
The headline act for this year’s Moonlight Madness at Old St Chad's is Woody Bop Muddy.
Bristol based Woody and his Record Graveyard will be performing on Saturday 04 September in the grounds of Old St Chad's church Shrewsbury (previously arranged for Shrewsbury Castle but now relocated due to archaeological investigations in the castle grounds), is a hilarious act which is easy to describe, but hard to explain. In a fury of ritualistic rice throwing he plays, then destroys a number of ‘cheesy’ records and CDs in turn, but not before the audience are allowed to cast their vote. Should it get smashed by his trusted golden hammer or allowed to ascend into record heaven? It is a totally unique show and the audience are encouraged to bring their own rice!
Woody has performed at the Edinburgh Festival, The Montreal Just for Laughs Festival, Glastonbury (and will be headlining in the Cabaret Tent this year), Reading, Bestival, and Womad Festivals. He has appeared at The Comedy Store, Jongleurs, and at comedy venues across the UK and Europe. TV appearances include the BBC, Carlton, Granada and US Cable.
A recent review on the Chortle comedy website, said: “The best was saved to last, with the brilliantly ridiculous anarchy of Woody Bop Muddy…. It’s a superbly daft act combining inspired madness, irrefutable high energy and liberating audience participation, sold with 100 per cent conviction. It’s a genuine joy.” He has also been described as “A breath of fresh lunacy” in a Guardian newspaper review.
