27/04/10 Headline act confirmed for Saturday night's Moonlight Madness in the Castle

The headline act for this year’s Shrewsbury International Street Theatre Festival (SISTF) Moonlight Madness in the Castle event has now been confirmed as Woody Bop Muddy.

Bristol based Woody and his Record Graveyard, who will be performing on Saturday 04 September in the grounds of Shrewsbury Castle, is a hilarious act which is easy to describe, but hard to explain. In a fury of ritualistic rice throwing he plays, then destroys a number of ‘cheesy’ records and CDs in turn, but not before the audience are allowed to cast their vote. Should it get smashed by his trusted golden hammer or allowed to ascend into record heaven? It is a totally unique show and the audience are encouraged to bring their own rice!

Woody has performed at the Edinburgh Festival, The Montreal Just for Laughs Festival, Glastonbury (and will be headlining in the Cabaret Tent this year), Reading, Bestival, and Womad Festivals. He has appeared at The Comedy Store, Jongleurs, and at comedy venues across the UK and Europe. TV appearances include the BBC, Carlton, Granada and US Cable.

Festival director Bill Ferguson is pleased to have secured Woody Bop Muddy as the headline act. He said: “Woody’s show is perfect for SISTF and it’s the icing on the cake for this year’s festival. I can guarantee that he will not disappoint audiences, especially when he starts interacting with them. It’s going to be a fantastic evening.”

As well as Midnight Madness in the Castle, there are four stage or circle areas in and around Shrewsbury town centre, where each circle hosts an eclectic roster of performers providing six shows per day over the three days of SISTF.

Tickets for Moonlight Madness in the Castle on 04 September are £10 will be on sale from 01 June. Availability and outlets will be announced in due course on the SISTF website at www.shrewsburystreetfest.co.uk and the Facebook site – Shrewsbury International Street Theatre Festival.
